Summer rec program keeps youths active this summer

Lompoc Recreation Department launches the 1974 city wide parks program running from now through August 16 at Ryan Pioneer Westvale Thompson and Floresta Parks with day camps at Kenneth L Adam Park. Activities include arts and crafts games and outings supervised for all youngsters with special events such as Dolly Tea Party Teddy Bear Picnic on July 13 and a city track meet August 1 2 at Lompoc High School.

Five men jailed for alleged car burglary in Lompoc

In Lompoc five men were jailed for allegedly burglarizing a car owned by Salvatore Gomez Fernandez. The loot valued at 278 dollars included a tape deck, turntable, two speakers, a string bass, and records. Bail was set at 2000 dollars each.

Library clipped in auto mishap injures no one

Police say David James Smith 18 of 112 Alcor Ave Vandenberg Village was booked in Lompoc Jail for DUI after his car rammed three parked cars toppled a city tree and clipped the corner of Lempoc Library in the 500 to 1000 block of East North Avenue. The library had minor exterior damage and three parked cars minor to moderate damage.

Lompoc Planning Commission Set for Home Business Hearings

Tonight the Lompoc Planning Commission will review Woodrow J. Brickner’s request for a home use permit to run a construction business from 509 South C Street and Bruce Ezzell’s home business for fire extinguisher sales and service at 516 North Street. An oral update on the city environmental resource management study and two county lot split referrals are on the agenda.

Lompoc Unified to Approve Publication Budget Increase

Trustees meet at 3 30 p m in the Central Administration Building 1301 North A St to approve a revised publication budget. County assessor William Cook says district assessed value rose 13 5 percent to 67 686 million, with state support cuts offsetting property tax gains per school business manager Joe Carlin.

County Board to consider higher pay requests

The Board of Supervisors will review 22 percent raises for four county justice court judges and 33 percent for four county constables, on top of 8 to 10 percent for most county workers, last given in 1968. The County Personnel Department recommended the increases after surveying salaries. Also up for ratification are Henry Camacho’s appointment to the Carpinteria Summerland General Plan Advisory Committee and George A. Miller’s reappointment to the County Board of Housing Commissioners.

Funeral services for Omer Dean will be held in Keene New Hampshire with interment at Monadnock View Cemetery. He died at Lompoc District Hospital while visiting his stepson Richard Wilson. Robber with hunting knife assault on 12 year old reported

Police investigate an armed assault on a seventh grader in the 500 block of North I Street. The youth described a nearly six foot, 195 pound suspect who pressed a hunting knife to his throat but released him when he found no money.
