Libyan hijacker surrenders on Spanish island
A 20 year old Libyan man hijacked a Libyan Airlines Boeing 727 shortly after takeoff. He surrendered to Spanish authorities in Palma de Mallorca with 86 aboard unharmed. The plane reportedly diverted after a brief stakeout by Tunisian and Algerian authorities. The motive remained unclear and authorities labeled the hijacker potentially mentally ill.
