Lompoc Chamber Names Olivia Cotsenmeyer First Woman President

At the July 3 meeting the Lompoc Valley Chamber of Commerce seated Olivia Cotsenmeyer as the first woman president. John Larsson passed the gavel, with Robert Lewis and John Martin as VP seniors. New board members include Harley Craig Bill Leary Al Pico.

Open space in California grows by 1.3 million acres

State Controller Houston I. Flournoy reports open space land in California rose 11 percent in 1973-74, totaling 12,719,389 acres. Reimbursements of 17,403,109 dollars go to school districts counties and cities facing lost tax income, with Kern County receiving the largest share at 3,317,613 dollars.

Pre School Moms Program Aims to Open Summer Session

Mission Hills Community Council launches an eight week free program for mothers of preschool children starting July 9 at Mission Hills Recreation Center. Teen girls 13 and up will assist from July 8 earning training certificates. Story Time for preschoolers features Mrs. Sue Schwark with Pooh themed activities Tuesdays 10 00 to 10 45 at the Library. Registration ends July 6 for up to 30 children.

Solvang Theaterfest plans outdoor Rejsegilde fete

The Solvang Theatrefest Committee hosts a Friday July 26 Rejsegilde at the new outdoor theatre site with chicken barbecue bar and Pacific Conservatory performers. Festivities start 4 p.m. area on Second Street is closed to traffic and no reservations are needed.
