Five USDA meat graders indicted for bribes in Southern California
Five Department of Agriculture meat graders were indicted for taking bribes up to 300 dollars a week to mislabel meat in Southern California. William R. Walmsley, owner of ServU Meat Packing, was indicted on three counts for bribing graders to upgrade meat. The case, announced by Attorney General William Saxbe, spans June 1972 to February 1974 and involves counts of bribery and false grand jury statements.
