Woodstock Nation Reconsidered as Festive Promise Fades

William Buckley critiques Woodstock Nation two years after the era’s rise, noting heat, disorganization, violence, drug use, and disillusionment at events from Altamont to McCrae. He contrasts guru figures like Timothy Leary and John Lennon with a fading ideal as New York’s Fillmore East closes and public sentiment sourly shifts.

Gas Company hearing date set in CPUC case

The California Public Utilities Commission schedules a public hearing July 13 and 14 in Los Angeles on Southern California Gas Company request to add a temperature factor to billing. The plan would base charges on average temperature, not recorded temperature, with reads still taken, potentially reducing single house bills by six dollars in cold years and increasing them by six dollars in warm years. CPUC staff oppose, citing unequal application to customer classes.
