Hazel Neu recalls shopping with her husband Old Bogey who turns from green to colorless at the thought. She describes his insistence on specifics, his reluctance to deviate, and how a simple trip becomes a test of patience though he remains generous and pleasant.
Arthur J. Bland, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur L. Bland, was commissioned as a second lieutenant at the University of California Davis where he was a distinguished military graduate. He hold s a BA in microbiology and chemistry from California State University, Chico and will begin duty in Germany. Kathy Friis, his wife, attended with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Gene Friis.
The June 19 ceremony at the First United Methodist Church united Cindy Anga Haupt and Mark Edwin Rogers in a candlelight 2 pm service attended by about 150 guests. The wedding included traditional gown details, family roles, and a reception at the Grange Hall. The couple will reside in Tacoma Washington after a San Diego honeymoon.
Mr and Mrs John Adams marked their golden wedding anniversary with a Saturday reception in the shaded garden of their Santa Ynez Valley home. The event was hosted by their four sons and families with friends from Santa Ynez Valley and Santa Barbara in attendance. They were married June 25 1927 in Buffalo NY. John Adams retired in 1966 as coast division manager for Union Oil Co. He supported Boy Scouts Red Cross and United Way. Mrs Adams active in Red Cross Solvang Lutheran Home board Visiting Nurses Association. The couple spent time mining for gold in Plumas County. Attending were sons John Jr Beverly Sam Thomas Roberta Daniel and spouses. Lompoc Record July 1 1977.
