Hedlund presses 20 acre parcels in farm preserve debate
New Fourth District Supervisor Robert Hedlund questioned why prime 20-acre land could not join the county agricultural preserve as 40-acre properties do. County Farm Adviser George Goodall cited a needed fiscal study and parcel density, while Supervisor William Wallace and Paul Wack warned 20-acre preserves raise zoning and subdivision issues. The Williamson Act preserves commercial agriculture and open space, not non commercial use, though prime land could qualify if subdivision urbanization is imminent.
