Littler Sets Phoenix Open 18-Hole Record At 63

Gene Littler, 40, of La Jolla California shot a 63 eight under par at the Arizona Country Club to post the lowest 18-hole score of the 1971 pro tour. He and rivals Paul Harney and Miller Barber both totaled 129 after two rounds, tying for the lead as the field was cut to 70 players.

Al Feuerbach, a 23 year old from Iowa now weighing 246 pounds, shattered the indoor shot put record at 68 feet 11 inches during the All American Games in San Francisco.
