Lawmakers consider AB117 to end the oil depletion tax break and raise state revenue by about 50 million annually. ACA15 would lower drinking age to 18 if approved by voters. Exclusive remodeling contracts hit for California legislature
The Sacramento Union reports Kimmel Construction Co. of Sacramento acted as nearly the exclusive contractor for legislative remodeling. Over nine years the firm billed the Assembly about 400000 dollars and the Senate about 300000 dollars, with the largest assembly bill of 156090 dollars in 1969 70. Senate costs grew mainly in 1971 72 on a cost plus basis. John Williamson of the Senate Rules Committee said no formal bids were sought because Kimmel had performed well.
