Betty Derrington welcomed Rainbow for Girls advisor Dorothy Oxender Isabelle Hansen Ida Cox James Oxender and Hugh Hover as East Chapter members observed anniversaries. Robert Cox Lom poc Lodge 262 worshipful master attended while a memorial poem honored Martin Howard. Three 50 year members Edna Maye Bishop Alma Lewis Bay Hayes attended.
Ralph and Bonnie Mathes were installed as noble grands of the Lompoc Oddfellows and Rebekahs in IOOF Hall on January 8. The ceremony featured district officers, guests, family participation, music, and a project to secure a chairlift for the local temple.
Lompoc valley artists are asked to submit one painting each for a February 26 auction at the Officers Club. A minimum price will be recorded by the artist with a 4 percent commission on sales. Oils acrylics watercolors and graphics welcomed. entries due by February 16 at Waunita Penner’s home.
The Lompoc Community Women's Club held a January luncheon with decor by Merle Swanson and an agenda including flag salute led by Gertrude Delworth, devotional poem by Arla Bullard, and a birthday song for January celebrants led by Mary Berkey. Officers were introduced by Jackie Molihan as guests and members discussed upcoming events such as March of Dimes projects, Busy Bees meeting January 17, and the annual bazaar. Additional plans covered garden club meeting January 18, a program by Cynthia Cowdrey, an Escort Night February 12 with prime rib, and a musical tour by Gordon Ewing titled Words and Music.
