Retirement increase postponed by County Board
The County Retirement Board delayed action on a proposed cost of living increase for retirees until February 19 after three employees protested at the January meeting. The plan would cost about 0.4 percent of salaries to both county and employees, with net cost seen as under 0.4 percent due to actuarial gains. Eleven service retirements were approved, led by Leland Lutosky with 27 years and Linnea Thuren with 22 years. A Lompoc sailor aboard the USS Enterprise, Machinist Mate 3rd Class Donald Hedman, 21, reported safe after recent explosions. two other Lompocans aboard the Enterprise, David Sanders and David Bouslaugh, were earlier reported safe.
