Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Peek Family Mortuary in Westminster for SSgt. John V. Ogren Jr., 28, who died last week in Italy in an automobile accident. Born in Pennsylvania in 1945, he was a three year resident of the Lompoc area and served with the 4392nd Aerospace Support Group at Vandenberg before his transfer to Italy. He is survived by his widow Lola, two daughters, and his parents from Fountain Valley. Friends may call at Peek Family Mortuary on Valsa Avenue East in Westminster Thursday evening and all day Friday.
Heavy rains and high tides caused widespread flooding in the San Francisco Bay Area and nearby regions. U S Highway 101 was closed during peak traffic as bay runoff overwhelmed lanes around South San Francisco, with additional flooding at Greenbrae in Marin County.
