Brown Considering Gubernatorial Run Against Unruh

Former Gov. Edmund G. Brown says he is looking at a possible Democratic gubernatorial bid against Assemblyman Jess Unruh. A delegation offered financial support if he pursued the nomination after San Francisco Mayor Alioto withdrew. County plans public hearing on sign rules continues

The County Planning Commission kept open the public hearing on a proposed sign ordinance, delaying action to February 11. Financing of centers tangled in state welfare funds

Sacramento. A report by Auditor General William H. Merrifield finds overlapping authority between the Departments of Social Welfare and Education has blocked proper federal reimbursements for child care centers and preschool programs. Estimated losses run around 2.5 million dollars annually, with blame directed at mismanagement by the two agencies.

Lompoc Record Adopts Legal Newspaper Status

Hayes Sacramento UPI reports that the Lompoc Record in California operates as a legally adjudicated newspaper under Superior Court Decree No. 47065. The paper, published by Lompoc Record Publications, lists staff affiliations and memberships with major press associations.
