Slight Loss Forecast for Local Lemon and Avocado Crops
County Agricultural Commissioner Walter S. Cummings reported a December freeze may cut 5 to 10 percent from the avocado and lemon crops in the county. Lemons and avocados total about 10 million in value with lemons at 7 to 8 million annually and avocados over 2 million. No extensive damage to celery, cauliflower, or broccoli was noted.
