State Agencies Suggested for Auction or Outsourcing
A confidential report by the San Francisco firm Touche Ross proposes selling or subcontracting eight California state agencies including the State Police. The study, described by Assembly Democrat Jess Unruh, says 21 operations are suitable for sale or outsourcing and could save about 53 million dollars annually with 3,567 jobs eliminated. It recommends creating a seven member Government Operations Review Commission to decide future sales if the constitution is changed.
