Move to restructure California UC regents drawn up
Assemblyman John Stull proposes a constitutional amendment to cut UC regents terms from 16 to 8 years and replace the head of the Mechanics Institute with the Senate president pro tempore. The measure would let the legislature remove any regent with two thirds vote, require disclosure of private funds, and keep politics out of university affairs. If approved, it would go to the November ballot for voter consideration.
