Nixon invited to visit Santa Barbara county beaches

Review Board weighs Lompoc restaurant plans

Lompoc Architectural Board of Review approved site and architectural details for two North H Street restaurants by Collins and Fletcher Construction Co. Topper Steak House and TJ's Taco House would invest about 100000 dollars. The board also okayed Foster's Smoke House at 115 South J Street plans and improvements to a Signal Oil service station at 800 East Ocean Avenue with a canopy trees and sidewalk work.

Lompoc To Elect Mayor By Council Vote Next April

Lompoc voters face a new annual mayoral election after an ordinance passed March 5 requires the council to choose a mayor from among its members each April for a 12 month term. The council will select the mayor from its ranks after council elections in 1970.

Public defender office approved by co. board

The Board of Supervisors voted to create a new office of public defender and, separately, to move the county refuse operation under Public Works maintenance, with both decisions supported by Administrative Officer R D Johnson. Former refuse consultant Buck Beatty warned the move could harm a self sustaining department and urged keeping control separate.

Pair Arrested on Marijuana Charge in Lompoc

John Eugene Vesper aged 20 and Gregory William Cannaday aged 18, both of 227 D S. K St., faced arraignment in Lompoc Justice Court on a marijuana possession charge. Police seized about four ounces packed in plastic bags during a warrant raid at their home. Bail set at 3125 each. The arrests followed a week-long investigation.

Pharmacist editor named for Lompoc Jaycee honors

Karl G. Braun owner of Braun's Pharmacy since 1964 was chosen Outstanding Young Man of 1968 and Harry J. Crompe editor of the Lompoc Record was named Boss of the Year at the Jaycees Bosses Night Distinguished Service Award banquet in Loop's Restaurant. Braun active in civic groups and community service lives at 232 Barrington Pl with wife Mary and children. Crompe cited for community service and Jaycee support. he is past president of the Lompoc Valley Chamber of Commerce. Other finalists were Robert Kranig John Larsson Al Walker and Francis Beattie Jr. Principal speaker Rob Reifschneider.
