Interment Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery. Born February 26 1952 in Winslow Arizona. Survived by widow Monica parents Placido and. Mrs Clara Merrill grandmothers Clara Ramirez and Alfidez Morales and brother Robert serving in Vietnam. He lived in Lompoc 12 years and worked for the NCO Club at Vandenberg AFB.

County boosts pay for over two thousand workers

Salary hikes for more than 2,000 county employees took effect January 1, lifting pay by five to seven percent for most. The two raises this year total $1,207,732, aligning with a planned $1.3 million contingency in the 1969-70 budget and shifting future increases to January.

Moratorium on Drilling Proposed to President Nixon

First District Supervisor George H. Clyde announced to President Nixon a proposed five year federal moratorium on oil drilling in the Santa Barbara Channel. Union Oil Co. president Fred Hartley said plans proceed to install a third platform 5.5 miles off Santa Barbara to ease pressures tied to leaks from Platforms A and B. Clyde has pressed for limits on oil facilities in the channel and noted California already imposes a tidelands drilling moratorium.

Menzel joins county retirement board reshaping lineup

Assistant County Clerk Howard C. Menzel takes a seat on the County Employees Retirement Board replacing J. Newton Blanchard who completed his second three year term at year end. Menzel becomes the sole new member at the start of 1970. Third District Supervisor Daniel G. Grant will begin a new term after reappointment.
