Supervisors deny appeal by cemetery group
Hillcrest Memorial Park's bid for a use permit to establish a cemetery mausoleum and mortuary near Orcutt was rejected by the Board of Supervisors. Attorney Oran W. Palmer, representing Hillcrest, sought to overturn a Planning Commission adverse finding after county planners denied a general plan change and later a conditional use permit. The action cited a prior cemetery designation on the Bud Richards property west of the Hillcrest site, as residents urged a new cemetery site designation.
