Orientation and Deacon Ordination at Local Church

The church hosts an ordination service for newly elected deacons at 7:15 p.m. tomorrow at First Southern Baptist Church. Dr. W.B. Timberlake continues Isaiah sermons at 11:00 a.m. Sunday. A week of Home Missions prayer begins March 29 with the annual Easter offering. Ted Miller Jim Neal and Carl Polston were elected deacons for three-year terms. The ceremony includes a council exam and hands laying. March activities include a luau fundraiser and a Crusade of the Americas outreach with revival planned March 23 30 led by Rev. Phil Tilden. An orientation class for new members and visitors runs Sundays at 6:00 p.m.

Bible presented to Sea Lab Ill aquanauts in Long Beach

In a SeaLab Annex ceremony in Long Beach, Dr. Dean Collins of the American Bible Society gave Commander M. Scott Carpenter a specially inscribed Bible for SeaLab III aquanauts. The Bible will be placed in the habitat 600 feet under San Clemente Island for Divine Services and personal reading. Carpenter, a former astronaut, led SeaLab II's 30 day inner space mission. The Society donated over 2 million Scriptures to armed services in 1968.

Revival Services Slated For Week at Local Church

A revival is planned each evening from February 23 to March 2 at 7:30 p.m. at the Church of God of Prophecy Knights of Columbus Hall 523 E Chestnut Ave. Rev A B White pastor of the local Church of God of Prophecy will be evangelist for eight services. White has served the church for about a year since his call to ministry.

Presbyterian Men Gather in Santa Monica for Southern California Meeting

Laymen and pastors from 265 churches will assemble at the Miramar Hotel in Santa Monica for a two day United Presbyterian Men conference February 21 and 22. Registration opens Friday at 3 PM with sessions after dinner and closes Saturday after Holy Communion. Main speakers are Rev Dr John Coventry Smith of New York and Rev Dr Gary W Demarest of La Cañada Presbyterian Church.
