Old oil price decontrol eyed despite Congress action
Federal Energy Administrator Frank Zarb said the Ford administration would decontrol the price of old oil on April 1 even if Congress does not pass an excess profits tax. He explained old oil equals May 15 1972 production level and any beyond that is new oil not under controls. Treasury chief Simon estimated removing old oil controls would cost consumers nine billion dollars.

Northrop Lingers on YF17 Sale Despite Turndowns
Northrop Corp maintains hope for selling its YF17 jet fighter after initial refusals by the United States and NATO allies. A spokesman said the rejection by four European nations may be temporary as they consider pooling funds for a single aircraft for their air forces. The deal could exceed 15 billion dollars and the YF16 won the U S Air Force order of 650 planes, sidelining the YF17 competition.
