Ron L. Lindemann was appointed manager of the Lompoc branch of Mission Federal Savings and Loan Association announced by president William L. Coulson Jr. The new office at 638 North H Street opens this spring as Lompoc's first federally chartered savings institution with assets over 125 million. Details of the grand opening to be announced in March.
Dr. Duncan argues the Insignis project differs from El Capitan and urges the planning commission to evaluate proposals case by case. He predicts county population could reach 750,000 if general plan overlays are fully developed, arguing much agricultural land should remain undeveloped. He blasts the density scheme as impractical and questions planning as private developers plan subdivisions. He says growth decisions may occur apart from the general plan's machinery.
Mission Hills Community Council will hold a meeting on Wednesday February 21 at 7 30 p m at the Community Center on Burton Mesa Blvd and Via Lato. President John Spooner urges residents to attend and nominations for officers will be accepted from the floor.
Funeral arrangements were pending yesterday at Starbuck Mortuary for Herbert J. Kleber 71 who died Friday in Lompoc. He lived at 610 E Pine Ave Sp 75 and is survived by his wife Jane.
The Lompoc Active 20 30 Club installed officers with Bob Hill as president Albert J Ramirez as first vice Edward Koekebaker as second vice Corkey McDonald as treasurer and Jack Schard as secretary. Year tabs honored went to Richard Garcia Bill Maltman and Ed Koekebaker Bill Raub. McDonald received the past presidents gavel and Wendy Koekebaker Sandy Burnham Theresa Colman Judy Riola and Brenda Schard earned wire pins. A separate London report notes a gold miniature pipe umbrella gift for smokers costing 833 dollars.
The Lompoc Savings and Loan Association won Federal Home Loan Bank of Washington approval for its merger with Imperial Savings of Central California, the final agency clearance needed. Assets rose from 11 million to about 21 million in five years while net income grew from 80 thousand to 268 thousand. Don Ashbrook resigns as executive VP and GM, effective February 20, to join another savings and loan firm in the San Diego area.
The United Fund held its Annual Dinner Meeting at the Lion's Inn with 45 guests. Master of Ceremonies Hugh D. Young. Mike Siminski announced about 65,000 dispersed to 17 Youth Health and Welfare Agencies in 1972 and similar for 1973. Certificates went to City of Lompoc Lompoc Hospital J C Penney Johns Manville and McDonald's for United Fund Day. Larry Flinkingshell received a special plaque. New officers elected include Mike A Siminski President Hugh D Young Vice President E W Cox Vice President Barbara Masciak Secretary and Charlotte Benton Treasurer.
The Lompoc City Council will discuss a backbone storm drain system proposed by Councilman Sol Lefkowitz and approved by the drainage committee. The project aims to finish before next rain season to ease major flood areas with an estimated $482,000 cost funded from existing city allocations.
