SAMSO to stay in Los Angeles say Air Force secretary

Secretary of the Air Force Robert C. Seaman told Representative Alphonzo Bell there is no current plan to relocate the Space and Missile Systems Organization from El Segundo. He said SAMSO’s mission and location seem stable for the foreseeable future despite ongoing search concerns. Separately in Camberley England pub owner George Duncan complained lady soldiers use bad language to his patrons. Army College officials said new recruits may be the cause and an investigation would be held.

California lawmakers weigh income tax rise over quake damage

Senate leader James R. Mills warned a tax increase might be needed if the Los Angeles earthquake descreases revenue for Reagan's 6.7 billion budget. Martin Huff said losses will be visible but early estimates are uncertain amid disaster tax-deductible rules.

California considers gas tax hike to fund quake road repairs

Susan Atkins resumes testimony in Manson case trial
