Shuttle cuts risk and costs in satellite launches says NASA official
Deputy director Leroy E. Day of the space shuttle project told the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics that the shuttle will nearly eliminate total failure risk in automated satellite launches and could halve development costs by carrying larger payloads and retrieving them for refurbishment. He cited OAO missions as examples and noted the shuttle would return crews and payloads safely if a climb fails.

President Nixon press conferences and the press
The piece recalls Warren G. Harding’s first White House press conference and contrasts early presidential access with Nixon era aloofness. It cites dwindling conferences, Henry Kissinger’s influence, and critics who link limited questioning to a broader decline in Congress and public discourse.
