Grand Old Lady DC-3 at Santa Barbara County Airport
The DC-3 aircraft, nicknamed the Grand Old Lady, rests at Lompoc as fog lifts. Built in 1941, it served in World War II and the Berlin Airlift, later becoming a star under Douglas Aircraft. Now owned by K B McDonald and piloted by Red Hatmaker, it contrasts with modern jets and may be replaced by an F-27 for upgraded features.
