20th annual Old Mission Carnival in Santa Ynez Valley
The 20th annual Old Mission carnival and chicken barbecue funds the Old Mission Santa Ines restoration. Held Sunday from noon to 6 pm at the Veterans Memorial Building Solvang, the event features a midway music games prizes and a Santa Ynez Valley style dinner with barbecued chicken frijoles bread salad and ice cream. Grand prize choices include a Hawaii or Mexico City trip or a 500 savings bond. Proceeds support the mission restoration started after its 1804 founding by Capuchin Franciscan Fathers.

Noise studies urged to address planes near county airports
