Lawmaker Pension Plan Faces 13.4 Million Funding Need
A California actuarial study warns the taxpayer funded pension for Sacramento lawmakers faces much higher future costs unless a drastic financing change is made. It recommends a 13.4 million dollar appropriation this year and sizable permanent increases in state contributions to reduce long term retirement costs. The plan covers 120 legislators the governor and other statewide officials.
