Welfare MH budget crisis linked to Medi Cal woes

Senta Grossi obituary and local notices from Lompoc

Senta R. Grossi aged 82 of Lompoc died last night. Daughter of pioneer Ben and Senta Grossi, she helped farm Honda area and owned Henry Ryan farm. Services pending at McPeek Family Mortuary. Spring programs at Pioneer Park begin Feb 8 with two classes 6-8 pm and 8:15-10:15 pm. Fee six dollars for eight weeks. TREASURERLeon Johnson of 4020 Altair Place Lompoc elected Blue Key treasurer at Oregon State University. Harry Basden 70, retired gardener in Farnham Royal England collected 60 wheelbarrows of litter in four days and received official thanks.

Inquiry on Welfare Abuses Put on County Board Agenda

Fifth District Supervisor Curtis Tunnell seeks a Feb 8 Board of Supervisors inquiry into alleged county welfare abuses. County Welfare Director Arthur Nelson and District Attorney David D Milner are to be requested to attend as Tunnell aims to clarify widespread allegations of abuse across multiple county areas.

Sacramento reports show Reagan's 6.73 billion proposed budget dwarfs Warren Brown figures by multiples. County approves crisis drug counseling training program application

County supervisors granted the Schools Superintendent Lorenzo Dall Armi authority to submit a $117 794 program application to the California Department of Education as an emergency item. The project aims to train 144 county school personnel and provide crisis counseling to 210 tenth grade students with no county cost.

Traffic accidents leave several injured in Santa Barbara area

A 15 year old, Richard Van Patten, suffered critical injuries after falling from a pickup driven by his father on Campbell Road near Highway 246. Two other-car crashes at Highways 154 and 26 injured Carol Drasal and Henry Bloch with the latter in back pain. Both were hospitalized in Santa Ynez Valley and Santa Maria in good condition.
