Thomas J. Shumillo, 77, received back 35 dollars he was robbed of plus a 15 dollar Christmas gift after five months as a note from Ann explained the theft. A Christmas card from Bakersfield with 50 dollars and a crushed rose accompanied the return and a hope to someday become rich. The pensioner plans to use the 35 for a New Year’s Eve party and the 15 for his grandchildren. He may write Ann to thank her.

Heavy snow warnings and traveler advisories spread across the country as the year ends.
