Shooting victim recovers after standoff on South G Street
Kenneth Howell, 30, was listed in good condition at Lompoc Hospital after a shooting on South G Street. Howell barricaded inside his home for over two hours, wrestled for a deer rifle, and was wounded in the right arm. Police Chief James Smith plans to seek charges based on the incident. Howell was to be moved to County Hospital when stable. He had threatened his wife amid marital problems and was on medical leave from Johns Manville Co.

Japanese Masters Exhibit Opens at Allan Hancock College
An exhibit of 300 fine art prints by contemporary Japanese masters is now on display at the Allan Hancock College Art Gallery. George Muro announces the show noting printmaking status in Japan resembles oil painting here and that each fine art print bears the artist’s personal touch. Retirement funds eyed for Goleta library financing
County officials consider using retirement funds to back a loan for the Goleta North Fairview Ave library project.
