Ballard School Marks 95th Year In Santa Ynez Valley
The Ballard School, Santa Ynez Valley's first public school, began in 1883 as a one room building now expanded to two rooms. It noteably added a bell tower around 1890 and a north end stage, with seven to eight grade shifts over the years and a 1973 bond to meet Field Act standards. Today about 40 students are in first through sixth grade with others attending nearby schools for higher grades.
