Pasko Sa Nayon Brings Filipino Holiday Spirits To Lompoc

The Lompoc Filipino American Club hosts its annual Pasko Sa Nayon Christmas party with Lompoc Senior Citizens Club and other groups attending. Local dignitaries joined the audience and danced, featuring Mindanao Moro dance, Tinikling, Pandanggo Sa Ilaw, and traditional Filipino dishes. A hospital performance is slated January 4. Nick Garife is named this year's scholarship recipient.

Girls Club sewing room project Beta Pi Sigma planned

Lambda Chapter will store supplies in the Lompoc Girls Club sewing room for the coming year as part of its community service. The December meeting at Connie Fortier's home approved the project. Officers for the year include Basileus Dorothy Jackson and others, with a post-meeting potluck and gift exchange. The next meeting is set for January 1 at Chris Hutchinson's home.

Nunnelees celebrate silver wedding anniversary in Lompoc

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Nunnelee marked their silver wedding anniversary at a Sunday gathering of about 50 relatives and friends in Lompoc. Guests enjoyed organ and guitar music, a champagne toast, and messages from family members. Dell Nunnelee also won the Lompoc Quota Club treasure chest the following day.

Transatlantic Brides and Parents Association Christmas Party

The TBPA hosted a Christmas celebration at the Community Center on East Maple Ave with an English themed buffet. Betty Baray Audrey Smith and May Letson organized food and decorations while Alec Turner and Edith McIntyre performed carols and songs. Next meeting is Jan 9 at the Hospitality House.

Scouts Pinewood Derby Winners at First Presbyterian Church

Mike Van Sickle won the Cub Scout Pack 63 pinewood derby at First Presbyterian Church. Drew Phillips took second, James Willis third, each receiving a plaque. David Whitlow James Willis and Michael Muller ran the eight-year-old, Jeff Julien Drew Phillips and Robert McChesney nine-year-olds, Robert Carpenter Roby Levy Mike Van Sickle Sam Skinner Troy Dotson ten-year-olds. Blue ribbons awarded to all. Scoutmaster Robert Levy presided and announced upcoming events. Carol Boyer received a whistle for training the marching boys in the Christmas Children’s Parade. Trophy and ribbon were displayed on the Pack flag during worship. Jeff Julian Bobby Carpenter and Scoutmaster Levy presented the trophy and ribbon. Closing songs featured denf and group Christmas carols.
