State Senator Omer L. Rains introduced a bill to fund and staff a Lompoc Municipal Court from the state budget. The plan covers one judge two clerks two assistant clerks and a marshal with immediate effect upon passage and gubernatorial signing.

NASA Marshall Space Flight Center negotiates a two phase payload planning contract with McDonnell Douglas Astronautics Co. for the Space Shuttle program. Phase 1 costs 116 214 dollars for six months and Phase 2 costs 183 240 dollars for nine months. Total 299 454 dollars. The work aims to schedule shuttle use, validate planning techniques, and integrate with ground operations and flight plans across NASA centers. Santa Barbara County plans to turn Lake Los Carneros into a regional park by year end.
About $75 was stolen from American Legion Post 211 rooms in the Veterans Memorial Building. The rooms on H Street and Locust were forcibly entered and suffered heavy door damage during the incident reported Wednesday or yesterday.

The group will visit Damascus Amman Tel Aviv Tehran and Dhahran January 1 to 12 to study foreign aid oil Palestinian refugees and Arab Israeli tensions. Lagomarsino also dissolves his Ventura law partnership with John Danch effective January 1.
