Nixon flies commercial to California for energy stand

Lompoc Adult School Winter Term Opens January 7

The winter term at Lompoc Adult School starts January 7 with 7 p.m. classes at Lompoc Senior High School. Registration occurs at the first meeting. Courses include Europe Its culture and customs graphic arts income tax and many others plus fitness and language classes at nearby campuses.

Government orders railroads to meet new passenger standards

The government through the ICC ordered railroads to adopt 24 hour nationwide telephone reservations and higher cleanliness. Rules take effect April 2 and bar sidetracking passenger trains except in emergencies while setting limits on arrival and departure times to boost service amid an energy crisis. Amtrak reports holiday demand rose on major routes with substantial traffic increases.

Traffic Death Toll During Christmas Holiday Sets Record Low

United Press International reports 518 traffic deaths in the 102-hour Christmas weekend, the lowest four day toll since 1947. NSC cites weather and road conditions plus lower speeds due to the energy crisis as factors. Total deaths: 690 including fires planes and other accidents.

Adelbert Castagnoli 54 Dies. Funeral Friday in Lompoc

Adelbert Dell Castagnoli died at 54 at his home in Lompoc. Funeral services are set for Friday at 2 p.m. at McPeek Family Mortuary Chapel with burial at Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery. Officiating by Lompoc Masonic Lodge 262 F and AM. He served 21 years in the U S Army and worked at Vandenberg AFB civil service. Survived by wife Bette, daughter Rene Murphy of Oklahoma, son Adelbert F. Castagnoli Jr. of Lompoc, his mother Frances Reagan, father Lewis Castagnoli, two sisters Verda Ruleman and Jeraldine Spinelli. Donations to Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children. Friends may call through 8 p.m. tonight and tomorrow until service.
