Holiday traffic injuries plague Lompoc area
Three people were hurt in two Christmas Eve accidents as heavy holiday traffic saturated Lompoc streets. Lloyd Albert Blackwell 19 of San Luis Obispo was treated at Lompoc Hospital for facial cuts after his car hit three parked vehicles on Lemon Avenue near A Street. His vehicle rolled and was totaled. In a second wreck Billy Carter 17 Artesia Avenue and Brooks Steinke 17 North X Street suffered minor injuries when their car struck a cable TV pole on North Q Street and went to Lompoc Hospital with Steinke released and Carter later discharged from Santa Barbara General Hospital.

Rosie O'Donnell dies at 65 famed Air Force general
Retired General Emmett Rosie O'Donnell Jr. of McLean Virginia died Sunday at age 65 from coronary arrest. A U S Military Academy graduate, he led the first B29 Tokyo raid in World War II and rose to commanding general of the Far East Air Force Bomber Command in Korea. Born September 15 1906 in Brooklyn he earned his commission in 1928 and was promoted to general in 1959.
