Cal Poly to enter Swamp Rhythm float in 1972 Tournament of Roses
Cal Poly teams from San Luis Obispo and Pomona enter a 50 by 18 by 16 foot float themed Swamp Rhythm for Pasadena’s January 1 parade. The hippo centerpiece with purple mums, a jazzy pampas grass monkey, a flapping toucan, and a croaking alligator symbolize the joint Cal Poly float’s swamp. About 250 students from both campuses will work around the clock, with an estimated 5,000 labor hours to complete the entry, a longtime award winner since 1948.
