Paris Doll Connoisseur Keeps Europe’s Antique Treasures
Robert Capia, a 35 year old Paris dealer near the Palais Royal, runs a vast shop with 500 plus antique dolls from six inches to life size. He traces doll history to pre WWI, notes Jumeau and Bru dolls fetch high prices, and recalls a case where an elderly buyer’s doll collection filled a large apartment. Capia attracts collectors, designers, and curious buyers from around the world, including top fashion houses seeking period pieces. He plans a doll history book for next year.
