Lompoc Planning Commission backs industrial focus on county plan
The Lompoc Planning Commission endorsed a pro industrial stance in preliminary review of Santa Barbara County land use recommendations. They backed 19 of 40 parcels, favored more industrial zoning, and urged open space/park buffers where appropriate while aiming to gain economic independence from Vandenberg AFB and leverage the 1975 bypass freeway to attract industry. The group left open land in Burton Mesa Road area for possible design manufacturing, a stance contrasting with the county plan for grazing and open space.
