Police said more than 800000 dollars of Los Angeles city funds were paid to a man identified by Interpol as an international swindler by Hollandsche Bank Unie in Amsterdam. The forged 902125 dollar check moved through four banks in three countries with funds routed from a Geneva company to Crocker International Bank before reaching the impostor. The suspect, Aime Nassif, did not return for the remaining money, tying up the case as nine stolen checks remain missing.
