GM to lay off 41,000 workers in first quarter 1975

Plans to swear Rockefeller in tomorrow

Plans are made for Nelson Rockefeller to be sworn in as vice president with final House approval anticipated Thursday. The House will vote first, the Senate will allow TV cameras in for the oath, and Rules Committee sets eight hours for debate. The Judiciary Committee praised Rockefeller as fit and qualified, with 12 Democrats in minority.

Transportation secretary Brinegar resigns effective February 1

Youths With Life Sentences Over Bank Kidnap Plot

Two young men Michael D. Madigan age 20 and Brian J. Young age 19 were sentenced to life in prison by a judge in Santa Barbara after being convicted of kidnapping and attempting to rob a bank. The judge cited influence from television shows such as Adam 12 in the case.
