Lompoc power shutoff set to aid repair work

About 9 000 Lompoc electrical customers will lose power for roughly two hours starting 3 a m Saturday while PG and E and the city complete repairs from last month outage. If all goes well repairs may take about an hour. The outage follows a short circuit on one of two main feed lines that left the city without power for three and a half hours on Nov 16.

Prisoners From Mexico To Be Transferred To Lompoc

F C I at Lompoc will receive 30 inmates recently moved from Mexico under the prisoner exchange treaty. The warden’s office said processing is under way in San Diego and the 30 men are expected to reach Lompoc by tomorrow afternoon. No specific identities were available yet.

Negotiators reach final agreement on raising Social Security payroll taxes by 227 billion over ten years. A separate tuition tax credit proposal by Senator Roth is withdrawn for possible later consideration. Lompoc Panel Approves Reservoir Impact Report Near Beattie Park

The Environmental Quality Committee of Lompoc voted 3 to 0, two absent, to approve an environmental impact report for a proposed three million gallon reservoir near Beattie Park. Public Works director Barry Gustafson endorsed the consultant’s finding that the design can endure severe earthquakes and noted the new facility would be stronger than existing reservoirs, though funding was not available in 1976 and the project carried an estimated cost above $600,000.
