Rockets hit PLO offices in Beirut in carborne rocket attack

Half of San Jose sextuplets perish and rest cling to life

Two more of the world’s latest sextuplets died from respiratory failures within hours of each other in California. Three babies survived as of the report, with one girl under two pounds and a boy about 24 pounds among the deceased. The remaining infants remained in guarded condition at Valley Medical Center.

County cities gain full share of sales tax under new ordinance

The Board of Supervisors adopted a second reading ordinance to route Santa Barbara Santa Maria Lompoc Carpinteria and Guadalupe to receive a full one percent sales tax share starting July 1, ending county involvement. Mayors urged divorce from county funds. A joint powers pact with Lompoc designates the Artesia School as a historic landmark and funds the County Historical Landmark Advisory Committee, which has no budget after eight years.
