Lompoc Sells Collected Paper to Ward for Building Fund

Ecology drive expands as church members donate labor and bins of paper. The Ward buys paper at six dollars a ton, ships it for seven, and earns about two dollars per ton after processing at Garden State Fiber Co. in Pomona. Funds aid the chapel and church programs.

Court spectator is given five days for contempt

Superior Judge John A. Westwick fined and jailed spectator Matthew Williams about 22 for contempt after he refused to stay seated at the end of a jury trial. The case involved Isla Vista residents and a separate bomb charge against Richard Edward Fisk, a former UC Santa Barbara student, who disappeared after a guilty finding on manufacturing or possession of a fire bomb.

Funeral services set for traffic accident victim Mrs Beckie Hayes

Mrs Beckie Ruth Hayes 23 died in a two car plus head on collision on Highway 246 at Union Sugar Avenue five miles west of Lompoc. Her husband Donnie Hayes 21 was only lightly injured and released from hospital.
