Hefty water rate hike eyed for Mission Hills

Public Utilities Commission staff in Lompoc warned Mission Hills residents may face almost a 100 percent rise as the Mission Hills Water Co seeks to separate from Salinas operations. The plan would create Mission Hills Utility Company under Seas wing and place rates under PUC control if approved, with Park Water Co monitoring possible purchase of the system.

Lompoc Council weighs water upgrades and development rules

The Local Agency Formation Commission will hold a public hearing on a proposed boundary change for the Goleta Valley area to be annexed to Santa Barbara. A Minuteman II launch from Vandenberg AFB is reported, and a highway accident near San Antonio Road claims the life of Alfred Eugene Fernandez, 20, with minor injuries to a passenger. Exxon plant decision delayed as Planning Commission eyes hearings

Subpoenas Issued For Santa Barbara Hearing On Fuel Variance

State and Federal energy experts and oil company officials have been subpoenaed for the County Air Pollution Control hearing in Santa Barbara on December 11. The session probes Union Sugar Division of Consolidated Foods Corp seeking a variance to burn high sulfur liquid fuel at the Betteravia plant and covers low sulfur fuel supplies through 1975.

State Parks Spends Millions on Santa Barbara Beaches

The State has spent 1.38 million dollars on Santa Barbara County beach development since 1970. Planned future funding includes 3 million for further projects, with 1.5 million in the 1974 Park Bond program. Carpinteria and Refugio beaches receive major upgrades including a 1.1 million campground at Carpinteria and 280 thousand for improved access at Refugio.
