Senior girls vie for Jr Miss title in Lompoc contest

Ten Cabrillo and local high school seniors compete this Saturday at Lompoc High School Little Theater for the 1970 Jr Miss crown sponsored by the Lompoc Jaycees. Miss Marie Comstock will crown the winner who earns a $200 scholarship and a statewide entry. second place takes a $100 scholarship.

Long Train Journey of Ken Stillman to Silver Springs

Ken Stillman of Miguelito Canyon traveled a circuitous route by air and rail to reach Silver Springs Maryland and the National Institute of Dry Cleaners. His itinerary included San Francisco Vancouver Montreal Calgary Sudbury Winnipeg New York City Washington Chicago and Los Angeles before returning home. He met Vic Towner, marketing chief of the Dry Cleaners Institute, in Silver Springs and attended Rotary Club No. 1 in Chicago.
