Control Board outlines Grefco dispute plan near Lompoc

Regional Water Quality Control Board staff engineer David Larson said a Dec. 11 San Luis Obispo meeting will consider setting maximum total dissolved solids limits for pond percolation from Grefco Co. ponds east of Lompoc. If Grefco proves no percolation to groundwater, standards become academic. otherwise a months long compliance period is offered.

City moves for speedy TOPICS traffic project in Lompoc

Lompoc City Council approved a joint agreement with Santa Barbara County to begin a TOPICS program project soon. Council critic noted the city has about $55,000 in TOPICS funds and could start one of three suggested projects without waiting. The plan calls for an area wide study costing about $5,180 with a $2,590 city share.

Witness testifies Calley pushed civilians into hole at My Lai

A witness, Robert Earl Maples, testified he saw 1st Lt. William L. Calley push about 15 civilians into a hole at My Lai and that Calley and Pfc. Paul D. Meadle opened fire. Maples could not confirm hits and described the victims entering the hole and not emerging.
