Scotty Sinclair Creates Red Petunia in Lompoc Garden
Scotty Sinclair a Bodger Seeds Ltd. designer in Lompoc earned the first red petunia after crossing two salmon varieties in 1950. He retired after 40 years, with 22 award winning varieties and 24 more non awarded. He arrived from Edinburgh to work for Bodger in 1930 and helped grow the farm from 300 to 1000 acres using new irrigation and tractors. Burglaries and YMCA classes are also noted in this issue.
