Santa Ynez High School landscaping fund nears 3700
The Santa Ynez Valley High School Alumni Association reports the grounds landscaping drive totals 3700 of a 10000 goal. Major gifts came from Rotary Club 500, Valley Lions Club 600, Coordinating Council 2500, with additional 5 and 10 dollar donations from individuals. Mrs. Carol D Nelson, association president, announced the figures.

The 12th annual Christmas Gift Shoppe and Bazaar, sponsored by the Santa Ynez Valley Presbyterian Church Women's Association, is set for Saturday Dec 3 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Veterans Memorial Building Solvang with crafts, baked goods, and a Green Thumb Booth. Proceeds support church and community missions, landscaping projects at the new high school gym and student center, and emergency aid.

College honors list announced for first quarter grades
Students across sixth to eighth grades at the College School District were named to the honors list for the first quarter. Very High Honors went to Richard Atkinson and David DeNozzo. High Honors included Robbie Anderson and Kevin Adkins. Honors recognized many more students across all grades. An eighth grade meeting of the Santa Ynez River Water Conservation District was adjourned to December with plans for board reorganization and studies on conjunctive use and contracts.

Red Cross Launches End of Year Fund Campaign
The county Red Cross chapter begins its annual gift drive aiming to reach over 10 000 families to support countywide disaster preparedness. Chapter Chairman Colin K Wilson cited more than 90000 in disaster assistance to 192 families or 400+ relatives after the Sycamore Canyon fire and noted a 4381 deficit funded from outside the chapter as they prepare for possible winter floods.
