Angels Acquire Berry to Bolster Outer Defense
At the winter meetings the Angels traded for Ken Berry to shore up defense in center field between Alex Johnson and Tony Conigliaro. The deal was part of a flurry of moves by the Cubs, White Sox, and Angels, with Barry also helping the Angels draft two players in a subdued MLB minor league draft. The Angels also acquired Syd O'Brien Billy Wynne and sent Jay Johnstone Tom Bradley and Tom Egan to the White Sox. The draft produced only eight picks totaling $200,000.
