Sands of Granada Hills win Fifth Annual Women’s Softball title

Hill named first full time PCAA commissioner

Jess Hill USC athletic director will retire early and become the Pacific Coast Athletic Association's first full time commissioner effective January 3. John McKay replaces him as co athletic director. Hill led USC to two national football titles and 29 NCAA championships in 15 years.

Graebner Dominates Barthes in Eastern Open Final

Dodgers Pirates brawl mars pennant chase in two NL games

In Houston and Philadelphia, benches emptied as fights broke out between Dodgers Astros and Phillies Pirates. Willie Crawford and Jack Hiatt were ejected after a first inning melee. Richie Allen and Doug Rader were active in the Houston fracas. Crawford's replacement Jim Lefebvre hit the winning run in a 3 2 Dodgers win. In Philadelphia Tim McCarver was ejected after arguing a disputed ball call and Billy Wilson charged the umpire Steiner as Roberto Clemente and Manny Sanguillen sparked a three run sixth for Pittsburgh 6 4 win.
